Sensory Readable Suite v3 for Windows is now released

This is our biggest release to date: Readable is now designed to read any text on screen, in any Windows application. It has always read the live text your applications provide and now version 3 adds the rest, recognising text that’s only a picture. A scanned or locked PDF or a photo of a page; you point, and Readable reads it.

The headline feature
The Readable Banner
The Readable Banner shows spoken text in a single scrolling line, the current word highlighted between the words just read and the ones coming up. Readers control everything – font, size, colour, spacing, scroll behaviour, and how many words show at once.
Why it matters: one clear line of focus, paired with audio, helps readers who lose their place on a busy page or feel swamped by big blocks of text. The result is calmer, more focused reading.

Here’s what else is new in v3:
  • Twelve new on-device Sensory Everyday voices alongside the Microsoft Natural Voices, plus free downloadable voice packs – all offline.
  • Six Sensory Fonts installed system-wide, and the offline dictionary, thesaurus and Ctrl+Shift Word Information popup now working across every application.
  • Smarter reading controls – Read to End (Ctrl+Space), F7 to play and stop, and a consolidated keyboard shortcuts reference.
  • PDF Convert 2 – turn scans and phone photos into accessible PDF, Word, RTF or plain text.
Throughout, Readable stays true to what matters in our field: fully offline and private, with no document, clipboard or image data leaving the PC; JCQ-compliant for exam use; and approved for UK DSA and Access to Work funding.
